The Manager of Group Camping will implement outdoor and adventure programming at Camps Amahami and Trefoil and work collaboratively with the Property and Program Team to meet the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through outdoor adventure.  This position will also focus on increased property usage by families, troops and service units at Camps Amahami and Trefoil. Although this position focuses primarily on outdoor/environmental education, responsibilities may include support of girl programming in other pathways. This position will work collaboratively with Member Managers to recruit and retain new Girl Scout members through a variety of methods and is expected to support the Product Sales team in order to reach council goals.

Residence at Camps Amahami and Trefoil is required June through August; nights and weekends are regularly required throughout the rest of the year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for coordinating and/or facilitating programs that support and retain membership once recruited, with an emphasis on camp and outdoor/environmental education activities, including but not limited to Me and My (Gal, Pal, Mom, etc), Troop Core Camping, Troop days, and Family Camps.
Must be able/willing to lead activities such as but not limited to hiking, fishing, aquatics (boating, kayaking, etc), low and high adventure course, shooting sports (archery, axe throwing, etc), crafting, plant/animal identification, etc.
Actively recruits program participants and staff through a variety of platforms.
Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate seasonal program staff to achieve program goals.
Manage all registrations, health form and parent communication within the CampDoc system and via telephone/email, ensuring that the system supports the needs of assigned programming.
Contribute to council publications, website or other resources as assigned.
Work in conjunction with the Marketing Team to create and maintain a robust social media presence for assigned programs; create and implement timely social media posts to enhance participation in camp and outdoor programs.
Ensure that all camp programming incorporates activities or processes that contribute to the intended outcomes for girls and are grade-level appropriate and meet the needs and interests of current and prospective girl members.
Promote troop/group and service unit camping opportunities on assigned property.  Regularly attend troop and service unit meetings to promote on-camp programming.
Ensure that program activities are girl-driven.  Be familiar with current youth development research;  conduct local research or focus groups with girls; develop or enhance systems that provide for girl input in the design and delivery of program pathways.
Is familiar with NYS Health Department Codes, including Summer Camp and Temporary Residence subparts. Maintains a good working relationship with the health department sanitation in assigned county. Coordinates with County Health Department and Camp Ranger to conduct annual Temporary Residence permitting visit and ensures that the camp safety plan is up-to-date and accurate; keep copy of annual safety plans onsite.
In conjunction with the Ranger, may perform seasonal grounds maintenance which includes trail clearing and building maintenance. Provides waterfront and archery/shooting range physical facility maintenance, including set-up/ tear-down for seasonal programming. Maintains the interior operations of camp buildings as they apply to camps and programming.
Prepare and adhere to budgets for assigned program activities.  Adhere to post-event report schedule as assigned.
Actively participate in supporting the product sales and membership departments to reach council goals.
Ensure that all program initiatives within the outdoor pillar support the council membership plan and GSUSA program model. Ensure that programs incorporate activities or processes that contribute to the intended outcomes for girls. Ensure a variety of program resources, experiences, and opportunities that support progression, leadership, and community partnership and service.  Interpret GSUSA and council policies, standards, and program resources in order to ensure quality program for girls and adults.

High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred
2+ years relevant experience; demonstrated experience and success in leading programs for youth is required

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Must be willing to drive a 12 passenger van
