Description
The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the planning, development, and administration of the men’s and women’s tennis programs in accordance with University of New England policies and NCAA Division III rules and regulations. This position provides leadership in the recruitment, retention, and development of student-athletes while fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and inclusion. The Head Coach is committed to delivering a first-rate NCAA Division III student-athlete experience that supports academic success, personal growth, competitive achievement, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental promotions, recruitment activities, publicity events, and university functions as requested.
- Serve as a game-day administrator and supervisor for home contests, as needed.
- Plan, organize, direct, and lead all aspects of the men’s and women’s tennis programs, including budgeting, scheduling, instruction, and coaching.
- Recruit, retain, and develop talented student-athletes who are aligned with the mission and values of the University of New England.
- Design and implement effective instructional and coaching practices that maximize student-athlete development while promoting sportsmanship, leadership, personal wellness, and academic success.
- Collaborate effectively with departmental colleagues to achieve shared goals and promote a positive image of the University. Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all University policies, NCAA Division III rules and regulations, and applicable conference requirements.
- Actively engage with professional organizations and collaborate with campus partners, including Alumni Relations, Student Affairs, Intercultural Student Engagement, Institutional Advancement, and other university departments.
- Manage equipment and uniform inventories and coordinate team travel, meals, scheduling, and facility usage.
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment; serve as an engaged member of the university community; and exhibit creativity, initiative, and leadership within the department, profession, and broader campus community.
- Perform secondary administrative responsibilities, including contest management duties outside the primary playing season, and complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three to five years of collegiate coaching experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in a related field required.
- Head coaching experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, mentor, motivate, and develop student-athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the broader community.
