Base Salary $108,557 - $118,267 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
Sydney Mass Spectrometry (SydneyMS) is a core research facility within the DVC Research Portfolio, providing a suite of over 20 state-of-the-art mass spectrometers. SydneyMS supports research with global impact in the areas of lipidomics, metabolomics, proteomics and mass spectrometry imaging. The facility provides best in class services to internal and external clients to the University, including industry, and across a wide range of disciplines in medical and life sciences.
The Senior Technical Officer is a fantastic opportunity to support researchers in a range of varied and exciting projects from combating diseases such as cancer, obesity and dementia to investigating post-translational modifications in bacteria, drought tolerance in crops and reproduction in livestock. The role will be an opportunity to bring your enthusiasm and technical expertise in proteomics and other areas of mass spectrometry to collaborate with facility users and researchers to provide training, instrument maintenance and research support.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
join a dynamic and expanding research support team,
assist in the maintenance of the LC-MS systems and ensure the smooth running of SydneyMS
collaborate with stakeholders, providing expert advice and technical research support to internal and external facility users
deliver analytical services in proteomics and one or more of these areas: proteomics, kinomics, interactomics, MALDI / DESI imaging, metabolomics and lipidomics
provide expert ‘omic’ data analysis advice and support to researchers in the facility
ensure reporting and documentation requirements are maintained.
About you
proven experience in the operation, optimisation and maintenance of mass spectrometry systems within a laboratory
demonstrated ability to provide mentorship, training and support to researchers
adept in delivering analytical services in proteomics applications within the life/medical sciences fields
extensive experience performing mass spectrometry data analysis and data management
demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
strong initiative and problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively
graduate or post graduate science qualifications in Chemical/Biological Sciences preferred
exposure to proteomics, kinomics, interactomics, MALDI / DESI imaging, metabolomics or lipidomics is desirable.
