Manager, Application Engineer SW

Position Summary: 

Responsible for the product application engineering within the approved program budget; Establish and improve the optimal product design; Support to VAVE, business quotation and supplier development. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• According to regulations, customer requirements, quotation assumptions, and JSS  product strategy, determine the product concept. 

• Organize the resources to complete product application engineering and meet to the target of engineering cost, quality and timing. 

• Generate/verify tolerance stacks and CAD master sections for steering wheel (with interfaces to DAB) 

• Ensure GD&T on drawings is aligned to tolerance stacks and manufacturing capabilities 

• Ensure completion of DR checklist and DR gate presentations on time 

• Track timing for engineering deliverables and ensure they are aligned to overall program timing 

• Generate ED&T and test plans for new business quotes and engineering changes 

• Manage and prioritize daily activities of direct staff 

• Manage direct staff onboarding, exits, schedules, and other needs 

• Review annual performance metrics and hold regular meetings with direct staff 

• Summarize LL, patent, competitive analysis, combined with theoretical knowledge. And optimize the products design. 

• Support core engineering to research and develop scientific and effective product development verification methods, to improve the efficiency and quality of product development. 

• According to the customers’ needs and VAVE projects, put forward the VAVE plan and complete the related engineering development work. 

• According to the experience of customers and product development, participate in the work of new business quotation, and provide corresponding engineering suggestions. 

• Support to complete the testing of DV and PV phase, and participate in the issue analysis and solving, to ensure the customer's schedule.  

• Support the process planning of production line; Participate in quality analysis to solve quality issues. 

• Support purchasing and supplier quality to develop relevant suppliers and improve their capabilities according to the business development plan and needs 

• Foster a positive attitude with your team 

• Offer mentoring options to lesser experienced team members (with you, or other team members)
