Job Description
The Biologics and Vaccines External Capabilities Associate Director serves as the primary point of contact for all activities associated with outsourcing process development and manufacturing efforts from the research and development laboratories working on the development of vaccines and biologics.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for coordination of outsourcing to support development and manufacturing programs, including biologics and vaccines.
The responsibilities include coordination of the outsourcing strategy with oversight of large molecule programs engaged in external process development, process characterization and GMP manufacturing (including cell banks, virus seeds and drug substance) in close collaboration with our company’s external partners. The candidate will be expected to effectively communicate with stakeholders in external and internal partner organizations and lead cross functional teams.
Collaborate with external partners to provide capabilities and capacity to support our company internal research and development.
Partner with internal company process teams to coordinate the outsourcing of process development and manufacturing.
Troubleshoot issues with external vendors, engaging the internal development teams where needed.
Partner with procurement to establish new business partners in alignment with the departmental strategy. Negotiate the service agreements and pricing of services.
Forecast the annual budget based on needs of the pipeline, through close collaboration with internal and external teams.
Develop the strategies and manage all deliverables for given program(s) in a matrix team environment
Education Requirements
PhD plus 3 years relevant experience.
Master plus 5 years relevant experience.
Bachelor’s plus 7 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise within vaccines process development and MFG including live viral vaccines, mRNA vaccines, viral vector vaccines including fully aseptic processing
Familiarity with SAP for material build and transactions
