About the role

SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Quality Manager, provides support to the Quality review and analysis.  Responsible for ensuring compliance to customer and Company quality system specifications and requirements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Conduct internal and external quality audits including suppliers and other Howmet sites.
  • Participate and prepare for Customer and 3rd Party audits.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to drive improvement in site metrics.
  • Process, investigate cause of RMA's (customer returns) and quality escapes.
  • Interface, investigate and complete both internal and external corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance to Howmet and customer quality system requirements.
  • Review customer and industry standard specifications, develop gap analysis and assist in implementing changes.
  • May require occasional travel
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • ASQ Certified Internal Auditor preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9000 and AS9100 quality standards and material specifications.
  • Previous Auditor Experience Preferred. 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent from a technical or business school. 
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must be able to read engineering drawings and specifications, have knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerancing principles and have the ability to use measuring devices common to the manufacturing industry. Experience with the use of measuring devices common to the manufacturing industry such as calipers and micrometers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.  Ability to perform conversion calculations (e.g. metric to inches, Celsius to Fahrenheit).  Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to perform root cause analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with geometric dimension and tolerance (GD&T) principles.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.

Working knowledge of ISO9000, AS9100 and AS13100 quality standards and material specifications preferred but not required.
