Job Description

The Meteorologist Associate will be trained to become a Weather Anchor, which will be reporting and covering weather related news. This position will support the weather team and assists in the creation of weather graphics and augmented reality (AR) story telling concept. This position will include some on air and streaming forecasting as well as live reports from the field. This position will report to the Chief Meteorologist.

Responsibilities: 
KXAS in DFW is looking to hire a Meteorologist to anchor and produce weather segments across all content platforms, including on-air, streaming and the station’s website. 

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Gather and prepare weather information for on-air presentation in the local & regional newscasts and special reports outside of regularly scheduled newscasts.
• Provide creative ideas to showcase the weather segment in an informative and compelling manner.
• Learn and master our weather related and augmented reality graphics systems.
• Learn and master the stations radar capabilities to assist in forecasting and on air storytelling.
• Employ strategy and engagement in social media and streaming including sending severe weather alerts/warnings.
• Provide input to newscast producers relating to the weather segments.
• Will need to be available to report both in studio and live in the field for all severe weather situations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Related Science or Communication Studies
• Ability to ad-lib effortlessly while under pressure during weather breaking news and during newscasts

• Must be willing to work at the station in Fort Worth, Texas, just south of DFW airport
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
