GENERAL FUNCTION:
Fifth Third's Financial Risk Management (FRM) business is comprised of three separate but coordinated asset classes: interest rates, foreign currencies and commodities. The mission of FRM is to be the premium provider of risk management solutions for middle market and mid-corporate companies. This being accomplished by building a best in class trading platform that delivers insights and solutions that our customers need and value.
The Managing Director will be responsible for driving opportunities within FRM as well as Capital Markets and other bank services. Key areas of focus will be on ensuring our sales and trading teams identify and deliver appropriate risk management solutions to prospective and current clients. The role will lead and participate in structuring, executing and managing complex risk management solutions. He or she will partner with internal Fifth Third leadership to lead FRM involvement in all relevant areas of the bank where customers have a need to manage financial risks. Additionally, the role will drive and develop client relationships with a focus on revenue production, prospect conversion, value added capital market and bank cross sell.
This role will report directly into the Managing Director Level II role and will lead directors, principals and associates in the responsibilities listed below.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners and external clients focused on the delivery of risk mitigation alternatives appropriate for the management of our customers' business objectives.
- Work as part of a team with the Relationship Managers, Credit, Investment Bankers and other Capital Market partners to deliver comprehensive solutions that our clients need and value.
- Create, manage and prioritize a pipeline of opportunities.
- Provide leadership in the evaluation and prioritization for the execution of capital markets transactions crossing multiple product lines.
Engagement/Delivery
- Create and deliver high value added financial analysis and strategic alternatives to the targeted universe of high priority prospects and clients.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and broad based customer communication strategy.
- Provide leadership around the creation and delivery of customized presentation materials and related communications.
- Establish and maintain positive and collaborative work relationships to ensure an efficient workflow.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee the presentation, analysis and execution of any trade eligible solutions in accordance with bank guidelines (forecasts, swaps, caps, collars, etc.)
- Maintain regulatory compliance at all times and at all levels within the organization
- Interface with internal and external oversight managers to enhance and improve risk management
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Actively support and drive general FRM strategic initiatives.
- Create and sustain a positive and supportive team environment through words and deeds.
- Ensure that the people strategy and organizational capabilities are aligned to the overall business strategy.
- Measure the department's employees by assisting in establishing performance standards and comparing actual performance against those standards.
- Work with senior FRM management to engage Senior Commercial Bankers, Team Leads, Investment Bankers and other members of the Commercial leadership team to provide training around the effort to identify and address major capital markets opportunities in coverage areas.
- Develop and mentor team members through timely and candid feedback regarding performance, career growth, opportunities, etc.
- Provide input into staffing, performance ratings and salary recommendations, as requested.
- Actively engage in new employee and graduate recruitment, training and other related human-capital related processes.
