Transportation Manager

 ERG is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee planning, coordination, and execution of all transportation activities at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of vehicles and light construction materials. This role is critical to maintaining a smooth supply chain operation and will collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, customer service, and external logistics partners. This position is full-time at the Naval Support Facility in Indian Head, Maryland. 

Job Description:

• Manage inbound and outbound transportation operations 
• Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize cost, efficiency, and delivery performance 
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other transportation regulations and safety standards 
• Monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, and transit time reliability 
• Collaborate with interested parties to align transportation plans with production schedules and customer demand 
• Lead and mentor transportation personnel  
• Leverage a transportation management system and other tools for load planning, tracking, and reporting 

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 5 years transportation or logistics management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting 
• At least 3 years of relevant supervisory experience (ideally for 5 or more maintenance staff) 
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills 
• Proven leadership abilities and the capability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment 
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)  
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance 
• Must be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations 
• This position requires a pre-employment physical exam 
• This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds 
• Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals); you may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs 
• Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts  
• Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around  
• Must be able to go up and down stairs (where applicable)
