Compensation: $20.98 / hour


Description

Provide compassionate spiritual support that honors every individual’s beliefs and journey.
Schedule:  20 hours weekly; Tuesdays/Thursday required for weekly groups from 4-6 pm

The Pastoral Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the spiritual, emotional, and pastoral needs of patients at Royal Oaks Hospital. This position provides individual and group spiritual support, religious services, and pastoral care in collaboration with the treatment team, while honoring diverse faith traditions, philosophies, cultures, and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual and pastoral support through individual and group sessions for patients of all ages
  • Conduct religious services, including prayer, worship, and rituals, as requested by patients
  • Create inclusive opportunities for patients of diverse beliefs and philosophies to share thoughts, values, and spiritual perspectives
  • Assess and respond to cultural and spiritual needs, including family roles, communication preferences, and special traditions
  • Document spiritual and pastoral counseling services in progress notes according to policy and procedure
  • Participate in orientation, training, and in-service opportunities related to spiritual and pastoral care
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and organizational standards
  • Support a care environment that promotes dignity, respect, and high-quality services
  • Remain current on required organizational trainings and certifications, including (but not limited to) CALM Protect, CPR, and Relias learning


Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

High School/GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, or a related area preferred

  • Must be an ordained minister, clergy, or religious worker
  • At least two (2) years’ experience as a chaplain or pastor preferred
