Job Details:
Schedule: 1st Shift; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri; weekend work and overtime as required)
SUMMARY: Performing as part of a team that maintains and repairs machines in a production setting, including preventive maintenance and identifying solutions to better meet performance goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Set up equipment or machines
- Adjust production machines and related equipment, according to maintenance schedule, manufacturer's service manuals and production tolerances
- Inspect machines and troubleshoot to detect potential malfunctions
- Replace repaired parts or install new parts to restore machine to operating condition
- Lubricate grease fittings and moving parts of machine and other preventive maintenance requirements as directed by supervisors
- Complete Preventive Maintenance and work orders in a timely manner
- Work within safety guidelines at all times
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools
- Ability to learn new processes with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of electrical motors
- Ability to troubleshoot a variety of machines
- General knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, compressed air and welding
- Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
- Understand and follow oral and written direction
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to perform duties listed on Mechanic Level I checklist
- Strong mechanical background required.
- Motive Power Operator License or Waste Water Treatment Certified for level II
Education and/or Experience:
- Associates degree in Mechanics/Automotive or Electrical Technology preferred
- 1-2 years’ experience in Facility Maintenance and/or Automotive Mechanic
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to communicate effectively
Physical Requirements / Environment:
- Stand/Walk: Continuously throughout shift
- Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs), Occasionally as required with assistance (up to 35-50 lbs.)
- Other Physical Requirements:
- Frequently; bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder (2-3 ft.), crouch, kneel, push/pull, grasp
- Physical Environment: Continuously: Working around moving machinery, working in a damp, slippery and cold environment (Below 40° F)
- working around moving machinery, in areas with marked changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust and fumes, occasionally working at unprotected heights, around and amongst dead birds and a strong chicken odor, some tight or confined space areas
Requirement: Must have a minimum of 1 years of Facility, Maintenance and/or Automotive Mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program.
Rehire Consideration:
- Max of two (2) previous Tyson employment.
- 180 days (6 months) waiting period.
