About the role

Description

Summary:

This position is responsible for the creation and prioritization of schedules for the organization’s production and manufacturing needs, to ensure efficient on time operations. This is a production planning position, so you will be responsible for scheduling the entire production process, from sales forecasting to material procurement to the distribution of our products. You also must be proficient with industry software such as Microsoft excel and other MRP and ERP systems.

 


Requirements

Primary responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Develops and implements production control monitoring tools and capacity analysis tools.
  • Determines and communicates lead time to the sales department and ensures that all tools (ERP) are fully updated.
  • Schedules equipment and Planning personnel, confirms material supply and demands, and prepares work orders or purchase requests based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
  • Identify capacity overloads to appropriate manufacturing managers and supervisors based on expected demands. 
  • Identify key constraints and address misalignments between Production Schedules, supply dates, and customer requirements and work with appropriate resources to address needs.
  • Manage the team of production Planners to optimize purchasing and shop floor productivity while maintaining the various stocks at a reasonable level.
  • Establish in coordination with the production teams, the capacity plan and forecast for review during the SIOP process. 
  • Review and track internal status of customer product. 
  • Participate in internal production meetings for assigned work center area and communicate status changes to program management in a timely manner.
  • Provides daily production schedules for each work center, develop, maintain, and report relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to gauge progress and success of activity related to production build schedule vs. customer requirements.
  • Takes an active role in continuously improving Planning methods, processes, & tools.
  • Interact with all levels of employees including but not limited to shop floor, Supervisors, Sales Team, Managers, Engineers, Customers, and Purchasing on a regular basis.
  • Closely coordinates with purchasing team to ensure materials arrive on time to support production schedule.
  • Provide training to production planners on ERP system and various tools.
  • Communicate adjustments in demand to the organization and ensure capacity constraints are addressed and the appropriate level of urgency is executed.
  • Maintain MPR to reflect best data available regarding forecast, lead times, safety stock and deliveries that consider both customer service and inventory goals.
  • Interviewing, evaluating, hiring, training, motivating, supervising, and disciplining all assigned personnel under general supervision.
  • Performs personnel functions; Coaches for improved performance, identifies/develops high potential employees, conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary action and recommends compensation increases within company guidelines.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly organized with strong time and schedule management
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proactive in anticipating potential schedule concerns with the ability to address concerns before they become an issue.
  • Computer skills should include a high proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel (i.e. working with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and conditional formatting)
  • Successfully drive simultaneous activities, meet deadlines, and achieve results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities at once with a positive attitude
  • Mid to large sized shop experience in a significant growth environment helpful
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years hands on experience with Shop Floor or Machine Shop Planning, utilizing MRP system; JobBOSS highly desirable but not required
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience minimum
