POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program curriculum. Provides
a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. While creating a positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y’s commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents and volunteers using a DEI lens.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications:
- Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law; 18 ECE Credits
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
hire date.
- Health form completed within the 30 days of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate.

PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A certificate in DEI or extensive training and work experience.
- An associate degree or higher in ECE or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
