Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, this position will administer commercial activities associated with indirect materials and services in a cost-effective, high-quality and timely manner to ensure optimum bottom-line results using honest, fair and ethical business practices. These commercial activities include, but are not limited to, monitoring price indices and market intelligence reports, contractual and/or pricing negotiations, periodic in-person supplier reviews, cost reduction exercises and total cost of ownership calculations. 
This category represents the company’s second-largest spend and includes a broad range of products, from MRO, travel and mobility to the company’s fleet vehicles.  In-scope locations include the corporate office as well as the company’s plants, distribution and service centers.  
This position interfaces with many other groups within the organization and as such, requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The position interacts closely with plant buyers and service managers to develop and manage supply agreements in the indirect category.  Additionally, the position works with the EnerSys legal team to perform commercial reviews of a variety of contracts.

  • Establish and foster fair and equitable relationships with suppliers of assigned material categories to ensure attainment of organizational goals and objectives 
  • Identification and implementation of optimal indirect materials and services agreements on behalf of the North American locations
  • Leverage global spend in areas such as corporate travel where possible
  • Fleet-Specific Responsibilities
  • Experience in creating, establishing and administering fleet policies and procedures
  • Experience in pricing, specifying, purchasing and leasing vehicles 
  • Familiarity with subrogation and accident management

Knowledge of:

  • IRS and global guidelines for vehicle use
  • Basic vehicle maintenance requirements 
  • DOT and country-specific requirements
  • Motor Vehicle Record requirements
  • Upfitting of service vehicles
  • Telematics devices
  • Personal use taxable benefit rules
  • Sustainability/alternative fuel options and deadlines

    

  • Collaborate with plant buyers to implement, manage and enforce agreements
  • Analyze market trends and pricing indices to proactively negotiate and maintain favorable pricing for assigned material categories
  • Identify and report potential supply chain issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply and support manufacturing forecasts and demands
  • Aggressively pursue cost saving opportunities resulting from alternative materials & services 
  • Collect, compile and present market data to advise of potential problem areas and suggest corrective actions as required
  • Monthly reporting activities to include, but not limited to, preparation of activity reports, analysis of purchase price variances, cost improvement projects and spend activity
  • Exercise discretion and sound judgment when dealing with critical and confidential organizational matters 
  • Provide timely resolution of invoicing issues
  • Other related duties as assigned which may include lower dollar direct commodity assignments
