Working in an integrated team model, the Dental Assistant will assist dentists and perform four-handed chair-side dentistry for the care and treatment of patients. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position typically working Monday through Friday during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Positions are available at multiple locations and hours will vary based on location, including occasional evening and Saturday shifts. Dental Assistant / Registered Dental Assistant positions are available throughout the Grand Rapids area, and candidates must be available to work at various locations, as needed.

Requirements:

High school grad or equivalent
-
Proof of radiology competency set by the state of Michigan

Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification.

Previous dental chair side experience is desirable, must pass yearly assessment of skill by supervisor, and an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above
Responsibilities:

- Taking blood pressures
- Performing Universal precautions
- Receiving patients
- Mixing of materials
- Recording data as directed
- Instrument transfers
- Alginate impressions
- Oral hygiene instructions
- Preparing treatment trays
- Sterilization of instrumentation
- Preparing operatories for treatment
- Maintaining Asepsis environment
- Monitoring supplies, ordering as needed
- Taking x-rays (with proof of credentials)
- Oral evacuation
- Model pour ups
- Fluoride treatments
- Preparing anesthetic syringe
- May be required to translate other languages if applicable
- Under the direction of the Dentist and after attending all required hospital orientation, a dental assistant may assist the Dentist in dental procedures performed in a hospital operating room. Specific duties would be similar to those performed in the clinic setting.
- Other duties as assigned.
