Job Description

Block’s Security culture is focused on enabling our engineering teams to build and ship secure products. We achieve this by designing, building, and operating state of the art security alongside our product and infrastructure teams.  The Block Security team works with other teams at Block to build world-class products for both customers and employees. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every single experience with Block is simple, secure, and safe.

The systems we secure are diverse in type and language, and distributed across different cloud platforms and data centers. We are looking for an engineer to create, strengthen and extend Block’s custom Authorization Infrastructure. 

You will: 

• Design, develop, and own zero trust authorization platforms for Square’s evolving corporate and production landscapes. 
• Impact all engineers, employees, and customers across Block by developing software that secures all internal and external services.
• Work in any Block office location in North America, or work remotely in the USA or Canada. Occasional travel may be required post-pandemic. 

Qualifications

You have: 

• 3+ years of technical industry experience as a programmer, developer, software engineer (SWE), or similar job roles.
• A strong desire to learn about security and grow your career in the direction of InfoSec (prior experience in InfoSec not required).
• Experience with distributed systems, DevOps, infrastructure code, and similar is helpful but not required.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $167,300 - USD $204,500
Zone B: USD $158,900 - USD $194,300
Zone C: USD $150,600 - USD $184,000
Zone D: USD $142,200 - USD $173,800

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
