Role Overview:
As the Director of Accounting Solutions at HCP, you are a pivotal figure in developing and scaling our bookkeeping and tax products. Your role involves leveraging your deep expertise to establish efficient processes. Your excellent communication skills aid in engaging diverse groups. You guide our product and marketing teams to align with customer needs in developing our bookkeeping and tax solutions. You create seamless experiences that empower our Pros through next-generation products. You work closely with our fintech team to integrate our accounts receivable and payables offerings into an embedded bookkeeping and tax solution, unlocking unique value for our Pros.

What you do each day:   

• Establish and evolve processes that support high-quality, cost-effective service delivery at scale, including (but not limited to) month-end book close, reconciliation, quality checks, and standardized workflows for handling client transactions or requests
• Grow and operate a high-performing, process-driven team to include skilled bookkeepers and tax professionals
• Create and leverage KPIs and data to monitor and continuously improve performance (such as error rates, throughput, engagement) `and customer satisfaction
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure successful product releases over time
• Optimize operational efficiency leveraging existing success infrastructure and implementing a mix of dedicated resource and hub-and-spoke 
• Advise on product roadmaps so that we deliver the right services to the right Pros

 

Required Qualifications: 

• 7-9+ years of experience as a bookkeeping and tax specialist with in-depth understanding of SMB accounting methods and processes, including:
• Consolidation and preparation of financial statements
• Month-end book close and consolidation process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analysis, A/P and A/R
• Knowledge of tax planning and compliance

• Four year degree in Accounting or Finance, or hold a similar certification or level of experience
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting any bookkeeping and tax-related questions
• Track record of identifying and delivering on opportunities for proactive process improvement and risk mitigation
• Experience building,  mentoring, and coaching high performing teams
• Experience participating in the building or troubleshooting of software issues with product and/or engineering teams

 

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA
• Expertise in Quickbooks and other SMB accounting software
• Prior experience working with home services professionals, contractors, or other similar industry segments
