Building and Grounds Maintenance Professional

The Building and Grounds Maintenance Professional is responsible for maintaining the grounds and supporting the facility maintenance efforts at Transwest properties with care and efficiency. This person will be responsible for overall building maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal.Transportation and fuel provided for vehicle used while on duty. This is a hands, Independent, non-supervisory role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain campus grounds and travel to other local Transwest locations for facility maintenance needs.
• Ensure property maintains exceptional curb appeal by keeping the grounds and building clean and properly maintained, including removal of trash and debris.
• Troubleshoot and complete preventive maintenance of applicable equipment and machinery.
• Remove snow using a snowplow and/or shovel.
• Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment as needed.
• Support facility technician repairs as needed, including repairs to roof, faucets, sewer, plumbing, boiler lines, heating and ventilation systems.
• Deliver superior customer service and professional at all times.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods.
• Safely use ladder to climb on various structures, including rooftops.
• Requires lifting up to 80 pounds frequently.
• Requires stretching to reach items up to 80 pounds.
• Requires working in some outdoor areas not shielded from the environment.
• Requires working in some areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
• Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a truck, forklift, snowplow, lawn mower, power tools, and hand tools.
• Occasionally works at heights using ladder or mechanical lift.
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.
• Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
• Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
• Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations.
• Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
• Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License with an MVR in good standing.
• Ability to efficiently use various power and hand tools.
• Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.
• Ability to be self-sufficient and self-motivated.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, dependable and self-sufficient.
• Ability to be responsive and highly efficient with relaying information.
• Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

JOB DETAILS:

• Type: Hourly
• Compensation Range: $23.00-$28.00

• Reports To: Executive Assistant and Lead Maintenance Technician
• Shift: 8:00am to 5:00pm, M-F. Can sometimes vary based on need.
