Compensation Range

Hourly: $34.05 - $39.90 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

As a Data Scientist at Commerce Bank, you'll deliver statistical and/or machine learning solutions to clients of Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence in support of business strategic objectives. By conducting statistical and mathematical analyses, you’ll contributes to the development of new ideas and methods to improve business performance.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with lines of business to apply modeling and experimental design skills to help drive business strategies, tactics, and results

  • Apply and interpret statistical, mathematical, econometric and/or machine learning analysis and models (regression, trees, neural networks, clustering, etc.) to the business as they relate to performance objectives/strategic goals

  • Identify opportunities to develop mathematical models and other optimization techniques to perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis that results in strategies to improve/maintain business performance

  • Responsible for writing and developing programming for extraction, transformation, loading and storage of large datasets for the purposes of statistical analysis, data modeling, machine learning and forecasting

  • Interpret statistical data analysis in order to develop business strategy, measure results, and maximize benefits to the line of business

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data is maintained

  • Complete assignments with guidance and instruction

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Basic knowledge of statistical/quantitative research methods

  • Basic ability to complete assignments with guidance and instruction

  • Basic knowledge of database environments (i.e.,Oracle/DB2/UNIX/TeraData)

  • Basic knowledge of statistical software (i.e., R/Python/SAS/Excel)

  • Basic knowledge of Big Data processes and programming (i.e.,Spark/Scala/HIVE/HDFS/

  • Python/R/Hortonworks, Databricks)

  • Basic knowledge of programming SQL or similar (i.e. SAS/C++/R/Python)

  • Basic knowledge of data visualization software (PowerBI/Tableau)

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or similar quantitative field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 1+ year data science related experience required

The position will be located in the St. Louis or Kansas City Office, with expectations to be in the office for Moments that Matter.
