Position: Human Resources Generalist
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the HR department and ensuring the smooth operation of all HR functions. This position involves a wide range of HR tasks, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR practices and excellent interpersonal skills.
Performance Expectations:
- Assist in the development and execution of recruitment strategies.
- Conduct interviews, screen candidates, and coordinate the hiring process.
- Ensure monthly achievement of established FTE targets.
- Coordinate with scheduling to ensure there are minimal gaps in coverage.
- Facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related queries and concerns such as FMLA and Worker’s Compensation claims.
- Address and resolve employee issues, conflicts, and grievances in a fair and timely manner.
- Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Support the performance appraisal process, including goal setting, feedback, and evaluations.
- Monitor and track employee performance and provide guidance to managers and employees.
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Ensure compliance and stays current with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations and HR trends.
- Makes recommendations for process improvement and employee morale.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases.
- Track and maintain special payroll items and review pre-processing payroll for accuracy.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in a human resources role, preferably as an HR generalist.
- Experience with HR software and systems.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
