Reliability Engineering Department

The Reliability Engineering Team drives the overall health of critical systems across Vantage global facilities. For each of the major systems Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls, the Reliability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring success in the commissioning stages of new construction, evaluating and improving the reliability and performance of existing critical infrastructure, sustaining equipment operational availability through maintenance program design, providing ongoing technical support to the Site Operations Teams, as well as providing systems reliability and maintainability feedback to the Design Engineering teams for future design considerations.

Position Overview

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.

We are seeking an experienced Power Metering Manager to lead all aspects of data center metering strategy, systems, processes, and capacity forecasting. The Power Metering Manager is responsible for managing the complex network of power, cooling, and environmental meters that enable accurate capacity management, infrastructure planning, and customer billing. This role will also be responsible for meter deployment strategy, health status, accuracy, reporting, and using this data for billing and developing capacity plans that support business growth. The Power Metering Manager will work closely with multi-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, Finance, and IT teams to ensure meter data integrity, availability, and security, as well as developing long-term capacity plans.

Essential Job Functions

Metering Infrastructure and Standards:

  • Manage all data center metering infrastructure, processes, and capacity planning.

  • Develop and maintain metering standards, procedures, and best practices.

Project Management:

  • Lead meter deployment projects for new data center builds and expansions.

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to optimize meter placement and telemetry.

Data Analysis and Capacity Planning:

  • Analyze meter data to support capacity management and infrastructure planning.

  • Forecast power, cooling, and space capacity needs for 1, 3, and 5-year horizons.

  • Identify capacity constraints and propose expansion or optimization projects.

Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and execute metering strategy aligned with capacity planning objectives.

  • Deploy and maintain revenue-grade meters for power, cooling, and other resources.

Audits and Reporting:

  • Perform regular audits of meter infrastructure and data collection systems.

  • Generate monthly meter reports to measure against customer billing and revenue recognition for accuracy.

Optimization and Forecasting:

  • Analyze meter data to track capacity trends and identify optimization opportunities.

  • Produce capacity forecasts and plans based on business growth projections.

Collaboration:

  • Present capacity plans and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Work with Engineering and Operations to optimize meter placement and telemetry

  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Construction teams to execute plans.

  • Develop dashboards and tools to provide meter data visibility.

Compliance and Maintenance:

  • Perform regular meter audits to ensure accuracy and calibration.

  • Manage metering system configuration, security, and access controls.

  • Create and maintain long-term capacity plans based on business requirements.
