HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on US Naval Vessel alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected Outside Machinist candidate will support PM, working closely with our skilled trades teams, on active class surface ships using various processes, mechanical techniques and related tools to remove, install, and upgrade industrial equipment, structure and ventilation, assisting with alterations and installations for ﬂeet modernization on various contracts. Weekend and/or overtime hours may be required depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set.

Selected candidates will be required to commute to and maintain access to shipyards and military bases located around the Hampton Roads area depending on contract obligations. Selected candidates may be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around the country and abroad when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided based on location when on travel. Travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement and performance consistent with company values.
Support trades team by working on active class vessels to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
Perform all work in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
Perform a variety of simple and complicated tasks, both routine and non-routine, including those outside of specialty, related to shipboard maintenance to meet standards on various contracts at company, customer and/or field locations.
Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
Install, maintain and repair structural and mechanical systems and associated equipment on naval vessels.
Cut, fit, assemble, bend, and position sheet metal, ductwork, ventilation, and support structures to be attached or welded into jigs, holding fixtures, and existing structure using hand and powered tools.
Apply understanding of production and processes, specialty trades functions and tools to provide technical support, install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify shipboard sys
