JOB TITLE:
Director, Wellness in the WEST
JOB PURPOSE:
Develop and execute a comprehensive, campus-wide strategy to enhance student and employee health and well-being. This role oversees the overall management, personnel, and operations of the WEST Wellness Center, ensuring the effective delivery of mental wellness services to the University of Wyoming community, including students, faculty, and staff. The Director leads program planning, budgeting, policy development, and administration to foster a culture of well-being across campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Program Development:
- Develop and implement a holistic wellness strategy that aligns with the university’s mission and promotes a culture of well-being.
- Oversee the creation, execution, and evaluation of health and wellness initiatives to meet the diverse needs of the campus community.
- Establish and maintain systems and processes that ensure the efficient and effective delivery of wellness services.
Center Operations & Personnel Management:
- Provide visionary leadership for the WEST Wellness Center, ensuring high-quality service delivery and continuous program improvement.
- Oversee hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of wellness center staff, fostering professional growth and a collaborative work environment.
- Ensure that all wellness staff are trained in Mental Health First Aid or other evidence-based wellness programs.
Education, Outreach & Community Engagement:
- Lead educational and professional development initiatives to enhance mental health awareness and overall wellness for students, faculty, and staff.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with university departments, student organizations, and community stakeholders to coordinate wellness outreach efforts.
- Serve as a key advocate and resource in fostering a campus-wide culture of health, resilience, and well-being.
Program Assessment & Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct ongoing data collection, assessment, and analysis to evaluate program effectiveness and inform evidence-based decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for program enhancements and innovations that align with emerging best practices in wellness and mental health.
Fiscal & Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the wellness center budget to optimize resources, ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with university business managers to monitor funding, secure additional resources, and align financial strategies with programmatic goals.
Wellness Environment & Culture:
- Ensure the WEST Wellness Center maintains a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members of the campus community.
