GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs designed to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward support from private foundations, corporations, and corporate foundations, for a variety of institutional priorities and individual faculty initiatives. The Director will supervise a Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator and work in conjunction with the President’s Office, the Vice President for College Advancement, Assistant Vice President for Advancement, Dean of Faculty, appropriate field groups, and individual faculty members and major gift officers to expand resources for identified academic priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Write institutional grant proposals, including narratives, appendices, budgets, and budget narratives and all other appropriate communication to support specific applications.
- Identify corporations and foundations with program objectives that fit the College’s needs
- Work with program officers as appropriate to increase the prospects for a successful outcome for proposal submissions
- Meet with faculty and other members of the College community to develop Letters of Inquiry, proposals, and funding opportunities.
- Assist faculty and staff in the preparation of proposals as appropriate and serve as a consultant to those involved in the solicitation of support from external sources.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer’s office to develop budgets, work tags, track grant spending, and reporting to ensure compliance and successful grant administration.
- Provide relevant information to and assist other Advancement staff and the President’s Office in the production of proposals to individuals and organizations as needed.
- Supervise and provide professional opportunities for the Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator.
- Write reports to corporations and foundations regarding the use of gifts and grants, and coordinate with the Stewardship Director on reports for foundation scholarship awards
- Report to corporations and foundations regarding College news, events, faculty achievements, and other activities as appropriate to advance on-going relationships.
- Write and/or coordinate the production, distribution, and recording of acknowledgment letters for presidential and other signatures with the assistance of the CFR Coordinator
- In coordination with other Advancement and College staff, plan foundation and corporate donor-recognition events and/or site visits, as appropriate.
- In consultation with Advancement Services, maintain a database of foundations and develop appropriate tracking systems.
- Prepare operating plans for proposal production and submission as appropriate and report to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement on progress.
- Provide reports on proposal projects as appropriate.
- Provide staff support for Advancement all-hands events as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications: College degree; advanced degree strongly preferred. At least four years of experience in fund raising and proposal writing, with an emphasis on foundation and corporate support in an academic setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
