THE JOB
As a Software Engineer on the Automation Team at Signal Advisors, you'll join a growing automation team focused on building and maintaining the integration and automation layer that powers our operations. You'll work across our technology stack—n8n workflow orchestration, Skyvern browser automation, CRM, outbound tooling, data pipelines, and internal ops—to design, ship, and maintain production-grade systems that eliminate manual work and keep our business running at scale.
This isn't a "manage the tools" job. You'll build the actual integrations, automation workflows, and data pipelines that make our systems talk to each other—without someone babysitting them. That means designing n8n workflows that orchestrate complex multi-step processes, using Skyvern to automate carrier portal interactions that don't have APIs, and wiring it all together into reliable, observable systems. You'll collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners to identify manual processes worth killing, then build the infrastructure that replaces them.
You'll leverage AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Cursor as a core part of your workflow—using them to build, iterate, and ship faster without sacrificing quality.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
- Design, build, and maintain production automation workflows across our technology stack—from data sync and lead routing to internal ops processes and outbound sequencing.
- Own the integration architecture between systems: if two tools should talk to each other and don’t, that’s our problem to solve.
- Write clean, documented scripts (Python or JavaScript) when no-code tooling hits its limits.
- Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to ensure workflows and integrations stay healthy in production.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Ops, and fellow automators to identify the next 10 things that shouldn’t require a human.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate development, refactoring, and automated testing.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN TEAM MEMBERS
- Systems Thinker: You look beyond the immediate task to understand how changes impact the entire ecosystem—from a broken CRM sync to a failed outbound sequence.
- Builder Mentality: You don’t just configure tools—you build systems. You write code, design integrations, and create infrastructure that scales.
- Entrepreneurial Ownership: You don’t wait for a spec to be perfect. You proactively identify bottlenecks, broken workflows, or manual processes and drive the solutions to completion.
- AI-Native Operator: You use AI development tools as a force multiplier—not as a crutch, but as a core part of how you ship quality work faster.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- Hands-on experience shipping production automation workflows using tools like n8n, Make, Zapier, or equivalent platforms.
- Scripting proficiency in Python or JavaScript.
- REST API fluency—you’ve read docs, built integrations, and debugged a webhook.
- Expert-level proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, or Cursor to accelerate development, refactoring, and automated testing.
- Ability to leverage AI to ship features at startup speed without sacrificing architectural integrity or quality.
- Operational context—you understand how business systems connect and what breaks when they don’t.
Strong Plus:
- CRM admin experience (HubSpot or Salesforce).
- DevOps experience—setting up monitoring, alerting, and observability systems (Datadog, PagerDuty, Grafana, or similar).
