Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer to be based in New York, NY or Raleigh, NC.
This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Create electrical engineering designs and contract documents under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer.
- Design new or modifications to existing low and medium voltage electrical power distribution systems.
- High voltage substation design and transmission & distribution.
- Design and document normal, standby, and emergency power distribution systems.
- Complete electrical design calculations including system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations.
- Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing review, site observations, and RFI responses.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Coordinate design solutions with other design professionals.
- Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and specifications under the supervision of a Sr. Electrical Engineer.
- Performing assignments under the direction of a Sr. Electrical Engineer requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgement and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, AGI, SKM, ETAP, and AGI32).
- Ability to work both independantly and in a team environment.
- Highly motivated and independent self-starter.
- Previous relevant internship or professional experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
