Description

Join our system engineering team as an Electrical Engineer (EE) to contribute to the development of a revolutionary AI-enabled retinal imaging device. You'll combine state-of-the-art electronics and optics with computer vision solutions to bring Verily Retinal Service to everyone who needs it. As a liaison between multiple cross-functional groups spanning software, industrial design, user experience research, testing, failure analysis, manufacturing, product management, quality, and clinical, you'll be at the center of new product development. You'll have the opportunity to interact with most, if not all, stakeholders, contributing your ideas, designs, processes, and feedback at every stage of the design control cycle. Strong communication skills, solid engineering fundamentals, the ability to prototype, and a growth mindset are key to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops new EE systems or subsystems, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Prepares detailed technical documentation, including schematics, PCB layout, reports, and specifications, to ensure clear communication and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of EE systems.
• Conducts thorough testing and analysis of integrated systems, interpreting data to identify and resolve performance/functionality issues.
• Applies problem-solving skills to effectively contribute to projects in other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or a similar field with 4+ years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience with PCB design, including both integrated and discrete circuits, as well as high-speed interfaces.
• Proven ability to analyze and resolve system hardware issues related to optical or imaging systems.
• Strong prototyping, programming (python), data analysis and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS+ in Electrical engineering or related field with at least 5+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with taking products from conceptualization through launch, including production transfer and scale up.
• Experience with C++ programming for system control or microcontroller firmware development. 
• Experience in advanced image processing algorithms and AI algorithm development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional peers from a wide range of technical backgrounds.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000 - $169,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
