The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Global R&D, Regulatory, and Quality Sr. Director of the Consumer Health Care Business you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. You will provide strategic, operational, and organizational leadership across global Lab, Quality, and Medical Device Regulatory functions. You will set direction with clarity, drive disciplined execution, and build an organization capable of delivering sustained business impact. You will collaborate across geographies and functions to ensure global alignment, accelerate innovation, achieve business milestones, and deliver strong execution with a culture of rigor and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide strategic leadership for global consumer health care R&D, Quality, and Regulatory organizations, ensuring alignment to business strategy, portfolio priorities, and long‑term technology and growth roadmaps.

  • Manage global Lab, Quality, and Medical Device Regulatory organizations to drive growth, achieve disentanglement milestones, and ensure compliance

  • Ensure New Product Sales and launch targets are achieved

  • Communicate proactively with cross‑functional stakeholders to remove barriers, drive timelines, and align decisions across geographies and functions.

  • Secure global market authorizations while facilitating quality performance improving process efficiency

  • Drive Innovation section of Strategic Plan, including product pipelines and platform & technology roadmaps

  • Translate strategy into execution, including a culture of rigor and accountability, establishing operating rhythms, review mechanisms

  • Oversee budgeting and spending management for multiple departments

  • Drive use of resource prioritization tools

  • Develop and implement intellectual property strategy Build and develop global technical and people leaders by setting clear expectations, supporting career development, and reinforcing accountability.

  • Strengthen operational excellence through standardization, best‑practice sharing, continuous improvement, and clear governance.

  • Sound judgment with the ability to balance risk, urgency, and long‑term strategic priorities.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Ten (10) years of supervisory and/or management experience supporting new product commercialization in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a healthcare regulated business

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Broad global experience including global people management

  • Strong communication and alignment skills

  • Ability to challenge the status quo

  • Strong track record of execution

  • Broad experience managing multiple functions

  • Demonstrated success leading in a matrixed, multi‑geography environment

Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Travel: May include up to 10% primarily domestic travel

Relocation: Not authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
