Senior Frontend Engineer

Canopy is a fast growth early stage startup looking for a seasoned Front End Engineer. In this role, you will be designing and building highly intricate UI components and systems, working on products with huge customer impact, including:

• CanopyOS
• Borrower Portal: Used to manage and control the credit of a revolving product
• LoanLab: A tool to help stakeholders understand how accounts in the system change when events occur

This role is perfect for you if you are obsessed with great user experience, building cutting-edge products and component libraries. You consider yourself full-stack – you lean towards FE work, but you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty in the API and backend when needed. The base salary range for this role is $170,000-$190,000 US dollars for candidates who reside in the United States. Compensation is commensurate with experience as well as location.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to build flawless user experiences that sets the new gold standard of UX for financial products.
• Work closely with Design to harden and expand our front end component library, Aura.
• Formalize and enforce robust automated testing best practices for the front end.
• Create beautiful interactive dashboard experiences using React, JS and CSS.
• Develop and carry out both short- and long-term roadmaps, implement key action items, and make necessary adjustments in order to prioritize the user experience, sustainable technical foundation, and business goals.

Requirements

• B.S. in a technical degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience with modern web frameworks.
• Deep expertise of JavaScript (ES6+), Typescript, HTML, and CSS. You know when JS is unnecessary!
• Demonstrated knowledge of data structures and asynchronous programming.
• Experience and a passion for creating robust, reusable component-based design systems.
• An appreciation for great design and a keen eye for intuitive user experiences.
• Experimental mindset to tackle challenging engineering problems.
• Bonus Points:
• Experience with server-side rendering frameworks like NextJS.
• Experience with state management libraries like Redux or XState.
• Experience in Serverless AWS.
• Fluency with writing frontend unit and e2e tests with frameworks like Jest or Cypress.
