Job Description Summary:

Do you want to help innovate solutions to some of our nation’s most pressing military and space technology challenges?

The Production, Mission, Operations and Enhancements Division is seeking a highly-motivated student for a summer internship. This intern will support guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems test equipment tasks by assisting with development of strategic grade test equipment, test processes, plans, analysis and design.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhancement engineering solutions for challenging problems. 

  • Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support.

  • Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process.

  • Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Program Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program required.

  • There is flexibility regarding hours and program duration based on applicant’s school schedule and availability.

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities.

  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Additional Job Description:

Tasking could include:

  • Develop system and subsystem test equipment or test equipment components
  • Assist with the Mechanical or electrical design of test equipment 
  • Hands on, in lab integration, testing, post-processing and data analysis
  • Assist with the integration of lab hardware and infrastructure 
  • Gain knowledge of GN&C systems from a test and evaluation perspective
  • Develop test plans and procedures
  • Analysis of system test failures and creation of performance reports
  • Evaluate and research system integration and test architectures for future strategic systems and sensors

Required qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • Demonstrated path course curriculum in computer science, math, physics or relevant sciences
  • Basic programming skills in MATLAB, Python, Java or LabVIEW
  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly both working closely with engineers and independently
  • Comfortable using new software and tools

Any of the following additional qualifications would be highly desirable:

  • Coursework in computer science, robotics, physics and math
  • Lab experience and hands on experience with network, logic analyzers, or other laboratory equipment
  • System analysis or systems engineering coursework
  • Familiarity with electronics, electrical systems or computer architectures
  • Integration and test experience
  • Familiarity with Inertial Measurement Systems and Sensors
  • Data Architecture, data acquisition, processing and analysis
