Job Description
Position requires four days a week in office at our Raleigh, NC HQ.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Sr. Manager, Floor Planning role is responsible for leading the Floor Planning team that partners with the Planogram, Category Management and additional teams to oversee the development of category merchandising strategies through cross-functional collaboration that drives productivity and sales. Additionally, the Sr. Manager is responsible for the floorplan merchandising of new stores and all additional real estate projects. This team manages system based floorplan changes & management, as well as space optimization reporting, balancing multiple project timelines, and upholding Advance Auto Parts merchandising guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned:
- Leads team responsible for providing merchandising analysis that support the development of detailed category plans & strategies for upcoming category space changes and company initiatives.
- Responsible for new store merchandising and space standards, maintaining store prototypes based on optimal adjacencies and footprint
- Partners in the development and documentation of best-in-class visual merchandising guidelines and strategies.
- Develop & drive macro space optimization across multiple merchandising teams, using analytical tools to shape strategic direction
- Determine & monitor item eligibility & store support metrics, highlighting areas of risk with solution options
- Proactively and effectively seeks input and feedback from cross functional partners to resolve issues and improve program delivery to stores
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with Merchandising and Inventory partners in order to identify and resolve challenges within front room businesses; determine strategy to drive sales and planogram execution
- Accountable for the creation and timely delivery of merchandising plans to support company initiatives and deliver a documented strategy
- Oversee conception and maintenance of merchandising floorplans that match the Advance Auto Parts merchandising guidelines and fit into the construction outlay.
- Manages responsibility of master POG maintenance and item sequencing for application specific parts, as well as labor calculations based on new sku additions to stores
- Seen as subject matter expert in the delivery of space productivity analysis in support of the merchandising strategy
- Highly proficient in category planning software, processes and reporting

- Proficient in the use of MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project
- Advanced Blue Yonder Systems and/or SQL experience
- Advanced AutoCad and/or Space Management experience
- Experience in combining data from various sources together to produce cross-functional analytics
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills, including facilitation skills
- Strong analytical skills in assessing business processes, systems, and information flows, as well as compiling and assessing data
- Customer-oriented focus and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Good judgment and decision-making ability
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timely and accurate completion of each; outcome-focused and experienced in project management as a means to plan, track, communicate progress and ensure on time delivery of projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Merchandising, Interior Design or related field; and
- 8-10 years related experience in visual merchandising, merchandising analytics and/or retail store planning
- Or, equivalent combination of experience and/or education
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position will directly supervise up to 4-5 Visual Space Planners and Merchandising Specialists.
