Overview

Position Summary We are hiring a Staff Accountant – AP & Expenses.  If you are passionate about building your financial career in the sports & entertainment industry, then we want to get to know you.  Bring a willingness to learn, your strong analytical skills as you will be preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss and other related financial activities. You will report directly to the Director of Finance and will engage frequently with all departments across our six entities.

 

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $75,000.

UBS Arena is the first third-generation arena in New York and will become the new home for the New York Islanders for the 2021-22 season. On the grounds of historic Belmont Park, UBS Arena is Made for Music and Built for Hockey; designed to deliver superior concert acoustics and unforgettable experiences for both music and hockey fans. UBS Arena will attract a roster of world-class artists and diverse music genres and expects to host more than 150 major events annually.

 

Responsibilities

While you are here, you will:

 

  • Process Accounts Payable via automated AP System.
  • Issue Form 1099s.
  • Respond to vendor and internal inquiries.
  • Weekly AP payment runs.
  • Responsible for all aspects of G&A departmental expenses – assist with budget and forecasts, review, and analysis of actual results, distributing monthly reports.
  • Prepare daily / weekly summary of bank account balances.
  • Maintain department deliverable calendar.
  • Wire and ACH entry.
  • Expense report review and processing.

 

 

 

  • Fixed Assets
  • Establish process and procedure for requesting, approving, and tracking fixed asset projects.
  • Ensure expenditures recorded as capital adhere to GAAP guidelines.
  • Review repairs and maintenance expenditures for potential reclassification to capital.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset subledger.
  • Review and approve monthly entry for depreciation.
  • Distribute fixed asset detail listing to stakeholders as needed.
  • At least annually review fixed asset reports for assets no longer in service, changes in useful life, and adjust the fixed asset subledger as needed.

 

  • General Accounting
  • Prepare all assigned balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, deferred revenues, etc.
  • Record monthly accruals (compensation, payables, etc.)
  • Produce G&A department reports including current month and year to date line-item expenses v. budget, forecast and prior year (as applicable). Distribute to stakeholders, meet at least quarterly to review. Answer inquiries and questions as needed.
  • Review and record activity by event from third party F&B operator (Delaware North).
  • Assist in response to the annual audit and tax information requests.

 

Qualifications

What you need to be qualified:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of accounting, finance, or other relevant experience.  A mix of public and private accounting preferred.
  • Prior experience in events/entertainment a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite, ADP, Concur and Ticketmaster Platforms a plus.
