Test Proctor (Pool)

Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of candidates for current and future hourly (intermittent), part-time, temporary Test Proctor appointments. Work schedule to be arranged.

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Test Proctor is responsible for assisting the assigned test supervisor and test administrator as necessary before, during and after test administrations. The position assists in the administration of standardized tests and test accommodations. The position is responsible for assisting in maintaining a secure, efficient, friendly and pleasant test environment. Duties include:

• Assists the test supervisor and test administrator as necessary before, during and after the test you are assigned to work. Arrives on time for the test information meeting with the test supervisor the day of the test.
• Maintains test security and confidentiality of all test materials. Is alert to detect instances of improper conduct or theft of test materials.
• Helps maintain a friendly and pleasant test environment, which is conducive to less anxiety for test candidates.
• Assists the test supervisor and test administrator with distribution and collection of test materials in an efficient manner while maintaining security and accuracy.
• Assists with counting test materials and test candidates, keeping accurate time, monitoring test candidates and following standardized test instructions.
• Constantly monitors candidates to ensure testing procedures are being followed by walking around the room frequently to guard against improper conduct and to ensure that every test taker is working on the appropriate section of the test.
• Carefully documents and reports any testing irregularities.
• Assists in addressing, attempting to resolve, and reporting to the supervisor all complaints.
• Reports all violations to the supervisor, such as copying, using prohibited materials or items, continuing to work after time is called, and/or unusual or suspicious behavior.

This pool will be used to notify interested applicants when new Test Proctor opportunities become available.  Test Proctor hours are scheduled based on department needs and included evenings and weekends.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Completion of a high school program or its equivalent and prior experience administering standardized tests.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with high school or college level students.
• Must have the flexibility to work evening and weekend hours.
• Must report on time for scheduled test information meetings and administration of tests.
• Must be attentive and detail oriented.
• Must have the ability to explicitly follow all oral and written instructions provided by the test supervisor and test administrator.
• Must have the ability to maintain security and confidentiality and of all test materials.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $20 per hour.
