Description of the Position (Purpose of the Position):

The Chief of Staff is responsible for supporting the general operations of the Student Government Association as outlined in the most updated version of the Student Government Association bylaws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend all Senate meetings and record minutes and attendance.
  • Distribute Senate meeting minutes a maximum of 48 hours after the meeting and give a per-semester report of attendance.
  • Attend all SGA Executive team meetings and record minutes and attendance.
  • Distribute Executive meeting minutes to the executive committee a maximum of 48 hours after the meeting and give a per-semester report of attendance.
  • Properly maintain and keep current bylaws and policy manual of SGA by instituting any changes passed by the Student Senate into the official copy of the Bylaws and Policy Manual a maximum of five days after the meeting in which they were approved.
  • Assist the SGA President and SGA Vice President with tasks that they deem to be necessary.
  • Assist in the selection and training of the next SGA Chief of Staff in collaboration with the incoming SGA President and Vice President, including the completion of a transition report.
  • Maintain three weekly office hours in the Office of Student Activities (BC 108)
     

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

  • Comfortability and proficiency with word processing software.
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be of sophomore standing or higher at the time in which the position is assumed.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must not be found in violation of any St. Olaf policies.
