Job Description

The Director will help identify opportunities for AI solutions to improve AbbVie’s clinical and development performance and advance functional/therapeutic area priorities while maintaining alignment with the overarching R&D Artificial Intelligence framework and priorities.  They will act as a key member of the Leadership Team, responsible for driving speed, performance, quality, and efficiency in clinical trials.  The Director will collaborate with scientists, clinicians, study teams, data scientists, and AI specialists within functional/therapeutic area and across R&D to identify, prioritize, and lead projects involving the development, adoption, and continuous improvement of AI solutions. They will closely collaborate with the existing teams and initiatives across AbbVie R&D to ensure broad alignment and coordination of AbbVie’s broader efforts. The Director will ensure that projects create a substantial return on investment and a meaningful impact on advancement of the AbbVie pipeline of new medicines and/key functional/therapeutic area or R&D priorities.

• Lead the identification, execution, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of AI solutions that enhance clinical trial performance, speed, quality, and efficiency.
• Translate clinical and therapeutic needs into AI-driven solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic R&D priorities.
• Collaborate closely with scientists, clinicians, study teams, and AI specialists to prioritize and lead AI projects.
• Ensure alignment and coordination of AI initiatives with existing programs such as Convergence and Quantum Leap.
