Financial Reporting Manager, Finance
Scope:
The Financial Reporting Manager, Finance will report to the AVP, Finance and will be responsible for leading all analysis and accounting related compensation and benefits, including deferred compensation plans, pension and stock compensation plans. As part of the Global Controllership team, this role will also support Chubb’s SEC filings and various accounting projects. The Financial Reporting Manager will interact with a diverse group of internal stakeholders, including HR, divisional leadership and external parties, including external auditors and actuaries. This role will be directly responsible for supervising direct and in-direct staff members.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand compensation programs, including deferred compensation and stock compensation programs to ensure accurate accounting treatment in the financial statements
- Accountable for accounting and reporting around qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, including pension. Activities include:
- Assumption setting, planning, and forecasting for $4B US pension and post-employment plans
- Lead consolidation of the annual 10-K and 10-Q Postretirement Benefit disclosures, including working with Chubb Overseas General and Global Life finance officers and external actuaries
- Execution of key control activities, review of journal entries and account reconciliations
- External Audit/Internal Audit Support
- Accountable for benefit plan audits of the three US based ERISA retirement plans. Activities include:
- Financial statement preparation and review
- Lead coordination between TPAs, Chubb HR officers, external auditors
- Stay up-to-date on emerging accounting standards, disclosure requirements and regulations related to compensation and benefits, and assess their impact on financial reporting
- Assist in the review of all SEC filings, including financial statements, footnotes, disclosures and supporting documentation
- Provide supervision and support financial analyst(s) with their responsibilities
- Support other projects as needed
Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a major in Finance or Accounting
- CPA preferred
- Audit experience preferred
- Strong Attention to detail
- Proven problem solving/analysis skills
- Reliable and self-motivated with an aptitude for process improvement
Required Personal Skills:
- Strong time management and organization skills; demonstrated agility in managing multiple priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex issues, particular to non-financial partners
