Compensation
The base hourly rate for this position is $32.63.We are currently seeking qualified applicants for an experienced Quality Lab Lead position located in our Macon, Georgia plant.

The Quality Lab Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the systems and processes that ensure all products meet or exceed established specifications. This includes the use of raw material test methods, finished product test methods, certificates of analysis, and deviation requests.
This position will supervise and perform quality lab testing as needed to verify that products meet minimum specifications or higher. Testing responsibilities include, but are not limited to, asphalt batch testing, granule particle size analysis, granule adhesion testing, and verification of finished product specifications.
The Macon, GA facility manufactures commercial roofing materials in an industrial environment. Advancement within the plant will require gaining knowledge of production processes and machine operation.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Data analysis of process input parameters
- Process improvement through SPC charting and other tools
- Performs all periodic safety and environmental audits
- Interact with production to audit on-line testing process and report any deviation for immediate resolution
- Interact with all regulatory agencies (UL, FM, Intertec, etc.) Reports on regulatory agency visits and findings.
- Make corrective measures to any regulatory agency findings and report out on corrective actions
- Develops RCCA with assistance from production for any quality complaints that are validated
- Ensure all quality lab equipment is working properly and periodic calibrations are performed on schedule
Leadership Responsibilities
- This person must have the skills to interact as a leader with all plant department employees.
- Lead pre-shift huddles
- Overseeing and coaching employees
- Assist with setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees
- Effectively communicate with employees and plant leadership on quality related matters
- Participate and /or drive continuous improvement initiative in the quality area
What You Bring to the Team
- Associates degree preferred (Business, Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing related discipline)
- 3-5 years of direct quality experience in an established quality system
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Solid computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab and SAP
- Equivalent combination of specific experience as previously defined with this job description and/or training/education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with UL/ASTM/FM guidelines
- SAP experience
- Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma knowledge
- Certifications
