About the role
Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Career Advising at the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development (SGC) at Yeshiva University (YU) is responsible for career advising students and alumni, individually and in groups, on career planning strategies across various fields. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who evaluates student and corporate partner needs, develops strategies, and takes appropriate action. This role includes tracking, auditing, and analyzing internship and employment outcomes with high attention to detail and accountability. The Associate Director also develops positive relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents.
Position Responsibilities:
• Coach and advise students, individually and in groups, on career planning strategies
across various fields
• Assist students in clarifying career goals through individual career advising
• Administer and interpret career inventories (e.g., MBTI, STRONG, and CAREER FITTER)
• Assist students in using SGC career-related resources across multiple platforms
• Create and lead individualized career strategy sessions and group educational programs
through in-person, virtual, and online resources
• Educate students on traditional career preparedness topics as well as those specific to
assigned fields; evaluate gaps in student engagement and skill sets; and create plans to
equip students with necessary competencies
• Help students develop and refine resume writing, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing, and job
and internship search skills
• Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member, to think creatively, and to
evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures
• Implement a career community approach; partner with faculty and alumni to provide a
holistic career strategy while in school and for post-graduation, leading to the beginning
of an impactful career, whether a great job and/or acceptance into graduate school
• Develop and deliver workshops and career-related programs, including new initiatives
using various technology platforms for career discovery/job-search purposes
• Facilitate and/or Co-facilitate career events for assigned fields, drawing upon alumni and
industry leaders to provide panels and guest lectures
• Participate in designing and delivering career-related workshops, programs, and panels.
• Leverage employer connections within the alumni community to connect students to
mentors and opportunities
• Assist with the annualized standardized first destination data process each year, which
includes call campaigns, student advising, and participation in on-campus events related
to this initiative
• Develop expertise and build relationships with faculty and staff to ensure that students
have access to community-specific opportunities and relevant resources
• Serve as a liaison to student groups, clubs, and organizations
• If assigned, manage staff member(s) and/or student employees, ensuring appropriate
workload, development opportunities are provided, and feedback is given regularly

opportunities and relevant resources Experience & Education Background: Required:
• Master’s degree required in a relevant field
• Minimum 3–5 years of work experience in Professional Development, Human Resources, HR Training, Campus
Recruitment, or Career Advising
• Strong and demonstrable knowledge and understanding of various advising fields and the ability to develop
productive advising relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse
stakeholders, including students, faculty, and employers
• Experience working with a CRM, preferably Symplicity
• Demonstrable work with SaaS platforms within the higher education space
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Technological fluency, including Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
Preferred:
• Terminal degree in a relevant field (JD, PhD, etc.)
• 2+ years of previous work experience building employer relations in a higher education setting Skills & Competencies: • Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member, think creatively, and evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures
• Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Must comprehend and follow a diverse set of verbally communicated operational procedures with little guidance or training and be self-
manageable
