Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief: Special Crew Section (Austin District)

TxDOT’s Austin District Special Crews Section is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief in Austin, TX. In this role, you will lead daily roadway maintenance activities and support safe, reliable travel across the region. This role oversees maintenance technicians and equipment operators, coordinates labor, materials, and equipment, operates light and heavy machinery, and ensures work meets TxDOT safety and quality standards.

The Crew Chief conducts roadway inspections, assists with surveying-related tasks, monitors materials and inventory, maintains required records, and supports emergency response during weather or roadway incidents. The position works closely with contractors, private entities, and internal partners while independently prioritizing work in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment.
