JOB SUMMARY

We are hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach ECTS 5030/6030: Contemporary Issues in Teaching Designated Subjects, a course designed to address key challenges and developments in teaching career and technical education (CTE) subjects. The course covers a range of pressing issues such as individual education plans, multicultural considerations, legal frameworks affecting education, and the inclusion of students with special needs. As an instructor, you will guide students in understanding these complex topics and facilitate discussions on how they impact instructional practices in modern CTE classrooms. You will also help students develop strategies for navigating these challenges in diverse learning environments. The course will be offered fully online. Therefore, the instructor should be able to create an engaging online learning environment and deliver it effectively.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

• Qualified candidates must facilitate discussions on contemporary educational challenges, including IEPs, school law, and multicultural education.
• Qualified candidates must guide students in developing strategies for addressing special needs and diverse learners.
• Qualified candidates must introduce students to safety protocols and performance assessment instruments for use in educational settings.
• Qualified candidates must provide real-world case studies for students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical educational issues.
• Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree or higher in Career and Technical Education or a related field.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in hand by time of appointment. (Master’s Degree or higher)
• Online teaching experience
• Experience with the topics covered in the course, including IEPs, special needs education, multicultural education, and school law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience teaching in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs or similar educational settings.
• Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
