The Software Engineer III a senior member of a team developing and testing power generation control systems that can be remotely controlled and monitored using web and mobile technology solutions.  The engineer 3 is a senior position that will participate in planning and estimating of software development tasks and will provide technical guidance and mentoring to lesser experienced engineers

Responsibilities

  • Develop new system features and functionality using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, and C on Linux platforms.

  • Select appropriate technical solutions and participate in the design and development process to deliver cost-effective results.

  • Contribute to integrated product solutions involving embedded and server-based software systems for power generation control and monitoring.

  • Support product development plans, including scheduling, cost management, and design input alignment.

  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers by reviewing code and deliverables, providing feedback and support.

  • Offer engineering field support to customers and dealers as needed, including occasional on-site travel.

  • Write clean, scalable code to build new applications and enhance or fix existing web and mobile applications, using best practice design patterns.

  • Implement application designs that address market needs and accommodate evolving business requirements.

  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of APIs with internal and external systems.

  • Review project ideas and requirements to provide technical input, balancing business goals with technical feasibility.

  • Actively participate in collaborative design sessions, Agile planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Stay current with emerging technical trends and make recommendations for adopting best practices.

  • Continue mentoring junior engineers, promoting clean code and engineering excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in software engineering, including embedded systems and web development.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
