Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Office of CO+I, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products and solutions that improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Microsoft's data centers. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and business partners to identify customer needs, generate innovative ideas, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will also collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure alignment with Microsoft's standards and specifications.

- This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
- Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
- This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for data center applications, such as structural engineering, thermal management, cooling, airflow, and acoustics.
- Perform engineering analysis, simulation, and testing to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of the products and solutions.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, such as design specifications, drawings, test plans, test reports, and patents.
- Support the fabrication, assembly, and installation of the products and solutions in the data center environment.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of the products and solutions in case of issues or failures.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and trends in the mechanical engineering field and data center industry.
- Communicate and present the project status, results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience
o OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience
o OR Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
o OR equivalent experience.
