ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the medical management provided by associate medical directors, attending physicians and non-physician practioners of geriatric patients in skilled nursing centers, care management, and home health, hospice, or community settings within the market.
  • Serves as Attending Physician where needed within specific demographic market of state.
  • Serves as Medical Director for health service locations within the market.
  • Assists in supervising, educating, and supporting the systems' non-physician practitioners
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration between all service lines to lead to better patient outcomes and a continuum of care.
  • Strengthens community-based relationships.
  • Represents provider services by advising market teams of clinical capacities, best practices, and trending items within each health service.
  • Provides peer support to attending physicians and advanced practice providers as needed.
  • Provides support for patient care needs as requested.
  • Attends interdisciplinary team conferences (QAPI/IGT/IDT) and Professional Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Reviews quality assurance metrics, clinical data, admission criteria, and performance improvement policies and procedures for each health service.
  • Works closely with executive leadership of the system to analyze data, review outcomes and manage development of process improvement plans for market.
  • Assists in Recruiting efforts, Partnership Development, Orientation and Mentorship of Physicians and Non-Physician Extenders within assigned market.
  • Maintains effective inter-departmental and inter-organizational communication to provide positive working relationships.
  • Complies with established budget restraints.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment necessary to perform job and in accordance with established departmental budget.
  • Supports new information technology systems with an emphasis on electronic medical record system compatible with organization            systems.
  • Participates in Physician Services’ surveys and any subsequently required reports.
  • Supervises and assists non-physician practitioners participating in patient care assignments and duties within the laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines of Georgia laws, the Composite Medical Board, the Georgia Board of Nursing, and the organization.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in professional field as well as to maintain current license/certification as required.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory in-services.
  • Follows established safety procedures when performing job tasks and/or working with equipment.
  • Honors patients’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights.
  • Complies with the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Reports job-related functions /tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.
  • Follows established safety regulations to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
  • Complies with all Privacy and Security, Adverse Event Response, and Disaster Security and Business Recovery programs.
  • Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
  • Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and compliance with rules and regulations governing medical care and payment for medical services.
  • Knowledge and compliance with the procedural guidelines for the organization and its health service locations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state health services regulations, value based care and standard
