PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the Shipping Group Leader is to support the shipping area to ensure a safe, efficient operation. The person filling this role will accept the responsibility to uphold the plant’s goals to create a sustainable culture of growth and development through highly engaged primary teams
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all safety and plant requirements individually and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
- Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM, 5’s and housekeeping programs as established within the plant
- Coordinating the staffing needs for shipping as a result of absences, lateness, vacations, holidays, shift exchanges
- Assist in Monitoring and scheduling hours for employees
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels
- Support ongoing projects related to warehouse improvements
- Verification of quantity and product on inbound and outbound freight
- Daily communications with MMS, transportation personnel, and assist with regional planning
- Maintain good working relationship with carriers
- Coordinate with Raw Material/Warehouse Supervisor on cycle counts and physical inventories
- Monitor “low material” inventories and verify with counts upon request
- Maintain and assign housekeeping tasks in shipping area
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks and ensure proper procedures are followed
- Operate lift truck in a safe, productive manner in accordance with all safety procedures and maintain equipment including periodic cleaning of forklifts, and verify that all fork lift daily inspection sheets are being completed.
- Coordinate the storage of material: storage bays, location
- Accurately complete receiving and shipping reports and submit them to accounting in a timely manner
- Assist Warehouse LTO’s as needed.
- Maintain a balance of stock throughout the warehouse and ensure inventory turns are timely
- Conduct daily task related to SAP to include Pick lists, Packing lists and bills of lading, Picks quantities and do post goods inventories, Adding / deleting items for shipment, Shipping logs, Create deliveries and shipments, Enter shipments into dwell time system, Process customer returns, Misc. inbound freight processing, Receiving
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) or more years of shipping and receiving experience strongly preferred
- Experience with SAP software
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Operate necessary software to successfully perform job responsibilities
- Think under pressure and make quick decisions to identify solutions
- Work well in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Receive and maintain forklift certification
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Wear required PPE equipment (safety glasses, bump cap, steel toe boots, ear protection, heat/cut resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, and face mask)
- Climb and descend stairs
- Lift, push, and pull 50lbs repetitively
- Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
