General Overview

This role will oversee A/R collection efforts to ensure prompt payment and deduction resolution occurs timely, driving resolution until items are cleared from the aging statement. Working with our Sales, Shipping and Accounting teams, the accountant will investigate deductions – pricing, quantity shortages, invoice issues – dispute the deduction in the customer portal online, resolve outstanding issues. Responsible for reporting on A/R and escalating known barriers to collection.

This role is a key component of our Finance team and will work with other team members with regard to their accounts. The Collection/Deduction Specialist, along with two other employees, will report to the Senior Accounting Manager.  This position is based out of the EcoWater Systems head office in Eagan, MN.

Overall Responsibilities

• Lead collection efforts for the organization

• Prepare regular reports on the status of collections and outstanding accounts

• Timely investigation, resolution and reporting on irregularities with customer accounts

• Work cross functionally within the organization – leading the effort and following through until completion

• Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and correctly posted

• Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer interactions

• Lead recurring collection meetings with key stakeholders to report on state of collection efforts, identify key roadblocks to resolution, and obtain consensus on action plan and next steps.

• Coordinate with legal counsel or third-party collection agencies for severely delinquent accounts

• Preparing ad-hoc analyses when necessary

• Generating invoices and account statements when needed

Qualifications, Skills, Competencies

• Experience working with customer portals and collection efforts from large organizations

• Strong Excel skills and comfortable navigating ERP (Epicor a plus)

• 10+ years of applicable experience preferred

  • Prior Amazon/Home Depot/Lowes customer portal experience is a plus

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
