Fullstack Architect

Background: Build-A-Bera is the capital arm/incubator for Berachain, a high-performance, EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible, Layer 1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK. Berachain uses a variant of delegated Proof of Stake called Proof of Liquidity consensus to rehypothecate liquidity as security at the protocol level, aligning incentives between liquidity and security across the ecosystem.

We’ve raised and deployed $Bs as fund managers, won the knife fight in the orderbooks on Wall Street, and contributed to category-defining DApps and protocols. Now we’re building Berachain.

Role Overview

Berachain is seeking a highly skilled Full-Stack Architect to continue development of our blockchain dApp stack. In this role, you will be instrumental in architecting and implementing scalable, secure, and performant full-stack solutions that interact seamlessly with our modular EVM-compatible blockchain infrastructure. You will be part of a team with full ownership of the architecture, manage full-stack loads, and lead engineering teams to ensure optimal performance and execution.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement high-performance, scalable full-stack applications to support Berachain’s blockchain infrastructure and ecosystem.

• Architect, build, and optimize Web3 applications, developer tooling, and blockchain infrastructure components, taking full ownership of the overall architecture.

• Collaborate with core protocol engineers to integrate on-chain functionalities with off-chain services.

• Develop modular and extensible APIs, SDKs, and smart contract interactions for developers and end-users.

• Ensure security best practices are enforced at all levels of development, from smart contract interactions to front-end applications.

• Optimize performance and scalability of Berachain’s network-wide economic incentives, validator tools, and developer experience.

• Manage full-stack workloads, effectively triaging work across teams and collaborators to ensure efficient execution and delivery.

• Exhibit professional resilience and effective decision-making through technical challenges in high-pressure environments.

• Stay at the forefront of blockchain technology, researching and integrating new advancements that align with Berachain’s vision.

Requirements

• Experience: minimum 7+ years in full-stack engineering with recent, strong focus on blockchain and decentralized applications (dApps).

• Blockchain Expertise: Deep understanding of EVM-compatible smart contract development, event indexing, Ethereum infrastructure, and decentralized protocols.

• Frontend Development: Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern web frameworks.

• Backend Technologies: Expertise in Golang, Rust, or server-side Typescript / Node.js, with experience building scalable, distributed systems.

• Smart Contracts: Experience with Solidity, Ethers.js, Hardhat, Foundry, and smart contract security best practices.

• Database & Infrastructure: Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, distributed systems, and cloud-based services (AWS, GCP, or similar).

• APIs & SDKs: Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and Web3 developer tooling.

• Security & Performance: Strong knowledge of cryptographic principles, security best practices, and performance optimization.

• Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience leading engineering teams, mentoring junior developers, and fostering collaboration across departments.
