What you will do

The Business Unit Manager / Production & Operations Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing all production operations to ensure optimal efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role is highly strategic and focuses on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and long-term capacity planning. BUM will drive performance through data-driven decision-making and by fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and lean thinking.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of production operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and KPIs.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
•  Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing production team, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback to ensure employees meet their full potential and achieve departmental goals.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, Planning, and EHS to ensure seamless operations.
• Set production targets and ensure delivery in line with business demand and customer expectations.
• Define and monitor performance metrics; implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
• Manage production budgets, capital expenditures, and resource planning.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performance working environment.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
• Lead organizational change initiatives and drive strategic production improvements.
• Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Pharmacist, Operations Management, or related field Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Proven track record in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational transformation.
• Experience in strategic planning and execution of long-term production goals.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, data analytics, and modern manufacturing technologies.
• Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish)
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, team building, and people development skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and organizational abilities.
• Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and financial analysis.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
