About the role

University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks a part-time D.C. Initiatives Coordinator to support programming, events and new initiatives for Darden’s Rosslyn, VA location. Responsibilities include administrative support, event coordination, program support, and project management. This position is located in the Darden’s Sands Family Grounds (SFG) in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia – a beautiful facility overlooking the Washington D.C. skyline. The role is open to hybrid work, with some in-person presence required during scheduled programs and events.

                   

Please note that this is a part-time wage position (5-15 hours per week) which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link: http://uvapolicy.virginia.edu/policy/HRM-029.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative coordination to support office operations and special projects of the Assistant Dean of Strategic D.C. Initiatives.
  • Provide logistical support for D.C. Metro events.
  • Review and respond to correspondence.
  • Expense tracking and oversee purchase requests and budgets for events.
  • Schedule, plan, and execute events, programs, and meeting touchpoints.
  • Ability to engage professionally and timely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide event coordination and support for several events throughout the year.
  • Track budget expenditures for events.
  • Assist with program events and program communications.

Education and professional experience:

  • High School diploma required with at least 3 years of administrative/general office support experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism, customer service, follow-through, teamwork, flexibility and positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships, including a diverse set of staff, faculty and graduate students.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply information and provide advice.
  • Demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities successfully in a professional office environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel).
  • Familiarity of tools for virtual meetings (Zoom preferred).
