Summary:
Heavy emphasis on hands-on preparation and processing along with technique development for creating acoustic stacks/arrays of various configurations for leading edge acoustic designs. Works day-to-day with technicians to assist in planning, directing and tracking experimental activities. Ensures accurate tracking and timely reporting of sample status. Performs material characterization for adhesion of critical interfaces using epoxies, primers, etc…for all relevant joining methods. Evaluates stack and materials properties using optical microscopy and other analytical tools.
Job Functions:
- Performing hands-on work on a daily basis in areas such as laminating, measuring incoming parts, determining pressure profiles on presses.
- Tracking daily progress of samples/experiments and providing accurate updates and creating/maintaining a central spreadsheet.
- Producing process flowcharts, diagrams, sequences as well as writing process specifications for the eventural manufacturing of devices.
- Prioritization of the lab workloads in conjunction with team decisions.
- Maintaining the lab efficiency, processes and supplies in an orderly and professional manner.
- Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system.
- Interact with members of the Ultrasound Systems engineering or other associated groups as necessary for transducer related issues.
Knowledge/Experience:
- B.S. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or materials related experience w/ technical degree.
- Minimum 4--6 years related experience.
- Dicing saw experience a plus.
- Surface science or interfacial chemistry experience a plus
- Background or experience with transducer and medical ultrasound physics is a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to prepare analyses, recommendations and technical reports.
- ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and/or experience.
- Extensive experience in product development from conception to release.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to work fast-paced small team environment under minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations.
Salary and Benefits:
- $95,000- $120,000 + variable bonus opportunity
