About the role

Summary
The Software Developer’s role is to design, code, test, and analyze software systems and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle. The Software Developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide status reports where required.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develops new applications and software systems based on pre-existing specifications.
2. Maintains and modifies existing systems and applications.
3. Performs testing and code reviews of proposed changes by fellow developers.
4. Writes and maintains clear and concise documentation of new and existing systems.
5. Communicates with users to gain understanding of needed modifications to existing programs and processes.
6. Provides occasional on-call support and problem resolution of software issues and performs initial diagnosis of hardware issues.
7. Maintains a broad knowledge of modern development practices, relevant languages, and frameworks.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
• Passion for problem solving.
• Strong knowledge of one or more programming languages and the ability to learn new languages.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation.
• Ability to write SQL Queries against complex database structures and to format and generate reports as requested.
• Ability to effectively communicate with and interpret the operational requirements of end users.

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
Experience developing and maintaining software.
